Innovative Instructional Techniques

Here at Redwood Early Childhood Center we use a Reggio inspired teaching/learning approach. Your children will be learning using hands-on experiences. They will learn from each other, and from the adults around them. This curriculum is meaningful, child-centered, and geared to address children's interests and developmental and cultural needs. As your child's teachers, we will provide materials and interactions to stimulate the emergence of your child's ideas and understandings. As the children engage, the teachers observe, offer guidance, and work with children in further pursuing their interests.

CLAY!

We're still going to be working on those self portraits over the next several weeks, seeing as how we're only doing one or a two a day, so keep watching for new ones to be hung up(in the classroom, not the hallway).  They are turning out SO great!      This week we are going to start working with clay.  Clay can get quite messy, so please dress your children very casual this week.  Basically, dress them in clothing that you don't mind them getting messy in.  They're going to have a blast, and we will be sure to take lots of pictures.  :)  Working with clay is a great exploration for children on many levels. Have a great week!
